Risk Reactor Inc.'s IFWB-14 Blue non-fluorescent water based tracer is specially formulated version of food grade dye FD & C Blue. IFWB-14 Blue has been certified by International to the ANSI/Standard 60 for use in drinking water. 1 Pint Treats 12,500 gallons for visual inspection, 125,000 gallons if used with one of our black lights. This dye is used for visual detection only and cannot be seen under ultraviolet light or detected by fluorometry. For these please see IFWB-C8, IFWB-C7, and IFWB-33. However, when used visually, its color is often thought to be more acceptable to public view than the fluorescing red or yellow green. In this respect, it is sometimes used in fountains, ponds and streams for decorative effect. Visually, the dye appears as aqua to royal blue depending on its concentration and activity of the water. Certified To Meet EPA Standards This is a certification that these products conform to the ANSI/Standard 60 for potable water as set forth by the EPA in The Clean Water Act.

The IFWB-C8 Yellow Green, IFWB-33 UV Orange, IFWB-C7 UV Red, and IFWB-14 are EPA Approved and Certified for drinking water. The IFWB-C8 Yellow Green is highly fluorescent and visible while the IFWB-14 Blue is just used visually and is used to give pools a blue tint. Our IFWB-C0 is special clear to color blue requiring a black light and is not as strong as the others nor approved for drinking water. Dilute the IFWB-C0 1:40 1:100 for starting ratios, which makes this hard for large projects. Hence, the IFWB-C8 1 pint treats 125,000 gallons is hard to beat. The IFWB-C8 is EPA approved but has a visible color along with being extremely bright under black light. Since it does have a yellow green visible color it attracts attention so in some circumstances IFWB-C0 or other clear blue has to be used.
Based on biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) studies, the dye is biodegradable with 77% of the available oxygen consumed in 7 days. As always the suitability of these products for any specific application should be evaluated by a qualified hydrologist or other industry professional.
CAN THIS BE USED IN A SWIMMING POOL?
The IFWB-14 is an EPA Approved, NSF Certified for drinking water non-fluorescent dye. This is used to make a pool more inviting with a blue tint. We have IFWB-C0 a clear to color blue only under black light but this is not approved for swimming pools just water fountains, and other water special effects. The IFWB-C0 would need about 2 gallons to make it really pop depending on the pool size, one gallon might do it. The IFWB-C8 yellow green is EPA Approved, NSF Certified for drinking water highly fluorescent dye where 1 pint will do 12,500 gallons without black light, 125,000 gallons with a black light.
