Mixing Instructions for DFSB-C7 Clear Red Fluorescent Dye:
Mixing fluorescent dyes are very easy. The ratios are dependent to your exact application. As a general rule you will want to mix them into the desired medium directly. If you can not go directly then use a solvent that is compatible for the dye and the intended system. Some dyes have characteristics that allow them to be used in some systems but not other so testing in your environment is strongly recommended. Please refer to the data specification on your particular dye.

General UV Dye Guidelines:

It is best when mixing anything fluorescent that you work in at least partial black light to see the dye in both regular light and ultra violet light.
Usually dissolving the dye directly into the desired medium is optimum, but not always possible. In these cases you can dissolve the dye into a more compatible system and then incorporate the dye into the medium that is desired. Dissolve DFSB-C7 into xylene for instance before entering into your coating.
Mechanical and thermal actions help dissolve dyes. You can heat mediums to absorb more dye faster. Keep in mind that when using flammable materials extreme caution is warranted. Example of this is warm water dissolving sugar faster that ice cold water.
Dyes also have solubility thresholds. These thresholds fluctuate between dyes, mediums, and environments. More of our DFSB-C7 Clear Red Solvent Based Dye can be dissolved in perchloroethylene than acetone.
Fluorescent dyes can change color for numerous reasons. You might see color shifts when adjusting concentrations, pH, solvents, black lights, and other chemistry related factors.

Water: Insoluble
Ethyl Alcohol: Partialy Soluble
Ethyl Acetate: Partialy Soluble

DFSB-C7 Clear Red Fluorescent Dye Mixing Instructions:
Soluble in alcohol, MEK, cyclohexanone and other organic solvents. For inks and coatings dissolve into a compatible clear solvent. This will give you a clear medium that will show the color red only under long wave black light. Adjust the concentrations for your particular application. Since this item can be absolutely clear when mixed into a clear medium we suggest working under black light.
